EL PROYECTO:
Conseguir autonomía estratégica al tiempo que se mantiene una economía abierta es un objetivo clave para la Unión Europea. La UE desarrollará nuevas alianzas industriales, incluidas las relacionadas con las materias primas necesarias para una recuperación verde y para construir ecosistemas industriales más resilientes.
LA UE y América Latina han manifestado su interés común en intensificar la cooperación en la cadena de valor de las industrias extractivas, basándose en sus complementariedades, objetivos comunes y valores compartidos, en especial en relación con la minería responsable y el abastecimiento sostenible. El principal instrumento para fomentar esta cooperación es el proyecto EU-Latin America Partnership on Raw Materials. Los participantes en el proyecto son los Estados miembros de la UE y Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, México, Perú y Uruguay.
Este proyecto pretende ir un paso más allá en la integración de cadenas de valor industriales estratégicas para las dos regiones, explorar nuevos modelos de negocio y ofrecer valor a la sociedad, al tiempo que se mantienen los altos estándares medioambientales y sociales que conforman el núcleo de esta colaboración.
Este proyecto reúne a múltiples grupos de interés a lo largo de la cadena de valor de las materias primas, tanto de la UE como de América Latina, para construir una economía verde y climáticamente neutra.
EU – LATAM PLATAFORMA DE RED DE DESARROLLO MINERO (MDNP):
El objetivo de la MDNP es aunar, a partir de la cooperación multilateral existente, todos los actores relevantes de entidades y disciplinas vinculadas al ciclo de vida de las industrias extractivas no energéticas y las cadenas de valor industriales dependientes en la UE y los países latinoamericanos Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, México, Perú y Uruguay, reforzando vínculos y apoyando la voluntad de intensificar la cooperación.
Los grupos objetivo son las autoridades, industrias, empresas (pymes incluidas), instituciones académicas, servicios geológicos y otras entidades relevantes para las industrias extractivas no energéticas de la UE y Latinoamérica en los ámbitos de la tecnología, la consultoría, la infraestructura, la inversión, el comercio, la formación, la salud y la seguridad, la buena gobernanza y otras áreas relevantes de la cadena de valor de la minería (desde la exploración hasta la rehabilitación de minas y la gestión tras el cierre).
La plataforma MDNP apoyará, por consiguiente, una cooperación continua y estructurada entre la UE y América Latina, reforzando el diálogo, promoviendo tecnologías punteras, fortaleciendo los vínculos entre las empresas, las instituciones y el mundo académico y abriendo nuevas perspectivas de negocio que conduzcan a situaciones de beneficio mutuo entre los dos socios estratégicos y persiguiendo, al mismo tiempo, los valores de una minería responsable y sostenible.
La Plataforma de Red de Desarrollo Minero (MDNP) proporciona herramientas de búsqueda con valiosa, posibilidades para el networking, intercambio de buenas prácticas, hacer negocios, etc., siempre en el marco de los valores de la minería y cadenas de valor responsables y sostenibles.

Los criterios de elegibilidad para convertirse en miembro de la plataforma MDNP son tener base legal en un estado miembro de la UE o en uno de estos países de América Latina: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, México, Perú y Uruguay, y ser un actor activo en los campos relevantes para el sector de la industria extractiva no energética.
Las entidades gubernamentales de otros países de América Latina son también elegibles como miembros de la MDNP.

THE PARTNERSHIP:
Achieving strategic autonomy while preserving an open economy is a key objective of the European Union. The EU will develop new industrial alliances, including on the raw materials needed for the green recovery and for building more resilient industrial ecosystems.
The EU and Latin America have stated their shared interest in intensifying the cooperation along the extractive industries value chain, based on their complementarities, common objectives and shared values, in particular on sustainable and responsible mining and sourcing. The main instrument to boost this cooperation is the EU-Latin America Partnership on Raw Materials project. The project partners are the EU Member states and Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
The project aims to move one step further towards integrating strategic industrial value chains for both regions, exploring new business models and delivering value for society, while keeping high environmental and social standards at the core of this partnership.
This project brings together multiple stakeholders along the raw materials value chain, from the EU and Latin America, to deliver on a green and climate-neutral economy.
EU - LATIN AMERICA MINERAL DEVELOPMENT NETWORK PLATFORM (MDNP):
The aim of the MDNP is to bring together, building on existing multilateral cooperation, all relevant actors from entities and disciplines linked to the non-energy extractive industries life cycle and dependent industrial value chains in the EU and the Latin American countries Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay, reinforcing links and supporting the willing to deepen the co-operation.
Target groups are the EU and Latin American authorities, industry, business (including SMEs), academia, geo-logical surveys and other relevant entities for the non-energy extractive industries, in the fields of technology, consulting services, infrastructure, investment, trade, training and skills, health and safety, good governance and other relevant areas of the mining value chain (from exploration to mining, rehabilitation and post-closure).
The MDNP platform will thereby support a continuous and structured co-operation between the EU and Latin America, reinforcing the dialogue, promoting cutting-edge technologies, strengthening business, institutional and academic ties and opening new business prospects, thus leading to win-win situations between the two strategic partners and pursuing at the same time the values of responsible and sustainable mining.
The MDNP is designed to enable spaces for networking, information gathering, innovation, ex-change of best-practices, business and more, always framed by the values of responsible and sustainable mining and value chains.
BECOME A MEMBER TODAY
The eligibility criteria to become a member of the MDNP are to be legally based in an EU Member State or in one of the following Latin American countries Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, and to be active in the fields relevant for the non-energy extractive industry sector.
Governmental entities from other Latin American countries are also eligible as members of the MDNP.
